Our Beach Cleaning at Capetown went very well. Thanks to the good advertising of Jacqui Smith from Volvo Ocean Race and Spike from Wavescape, a South African website for surfers, about one hundred people joined us at Mouille Point to help cleaning this beach. The wind was houwling with 40 knots offshore, so we could only bring Miss Flip Flop, our new topmodel, to the beach and tie her onto a fixed steel pole.
Wisdom, the Albatross Mascott, came by and the kids had lots of fun with him. We were very happy that Knut Frostad, the CEO of Volvo Ocean Race and sailors joined us with their families helpingto clean the beach.
“I must say that the people around Cape Town are doing a real good job to keep their beaches clean, even though we could find thousands of really small plastic particels in the sand and rocks. At the end of our clean up many rubbish bags were quiet full. Joao Parrinha recones that this material is a really good quality trash to work with at our workshops.” reports Xandi Kreuzeder from Mouille Point.
The public workshops at the Volvo Ocean Race stopover in Cape Town are starting Monday the 5th of December and continue every day from 1 pm till 5 pm until Saturday the 10t of December 2011.
Come and join us at the crafts shed of the V & A Waterfront. The mission is to create a big Aquarium installation and everybody can help us making a fish or some other marine life for the Aquarium.
