Skeleton Sea is at the Volvo Ocean Race in Auckland, New Zealand, from the 10th to the 17th of March 2012:
On Saturday, there is a Beach Clean on Motuihe Island that everyone is welcome to. A free ferry will depart Pier 4 at 10am, which has been generously donated by the Ports of Auckland. Please meet outside the Voyager New Zealand Maritime Museum for registration. The ferry has a limited capacity, so please arrive earlier to avoid disappointment! Bags and gloves will be provided. Participants are asked to bring their own water and snacks, and to wear a hat and sturdy shoes for the beach clean. Children under 18 years must be supervised by an adult. The ferry will return at 1pm, complete with all the collected rubbish that will become the important ingredients in our next Project… the Environmental Art Workshops!
The Environmental Art Workshops begin on Sunday the 11th of March and continue on Friday the 16th and Saturday the 17th of March. Hours are between 10am – 12pm and 1pm – 4pm in a classroom kindly provided by the Voyager Museum. Here, Skeleton Sea artist João Parrinha will create a unique sculpture with the rubbish collected from the beach clean… with the help of the workshop participants.
